Coachella has become a revered cultural event that celebrates music, creativity and art of many forms. Coachella’s dedicated focus on artistry and craft extended to its 25 anniversary visual identity. Director Andrea Love used her signature felted wool to craft the festival’s date announcement video, icons for the website, hologram projector designs, and a series of vignettes that combine into a 2-minute film featured on millions of screens during the festival’s livestream.
Her warm, playful felted wool styling is instantly recognizable and incredibly loveable. The main hero film was created using classic stop-motion techniques and Andrea’s soft, rounded character and environmental style. To capture a day at Coachella, a clever combination of age-old 3D practical sets and modern 2D digital compositing makes the festival grounds feel both immersive and expansive.
