‍

Bold. Savory. Legendary. Bringing the power of anime to Kikkoman's newly unleashed lineup.

With the right sauce, a simple backyard BBQ becomes the stuff of legend– turning everyday hangs into iconic moments that will live on in the groupchat.

‍

To tell the story of these modern myth-making moments, the spots blend action-packed shonen anime with artful, hand-made sensibilities for a campaign that is fresh, youthful, and totally Clubcamping.

‍

The art direction hinged on a character-driven system, where each sauce becomes a distinct personality communicated instantly, through distinctive silhouette, styling, and expression.

‍

Working closely with artist Agustin Nakamura, whose work in contemporary anime and manga as well as Japanese heritage and experience in Japan brought an added layer of cultural faithfulness. The process balanced authenticity with a fresh, contemporary feel, blending classic anime language with subtle Gen Z influences.

‍

The animation embraces a cinematic, high-energy language inspired by modern shonen anime, structured around dynamic peaks of action. These sakuga moments of high intensity that require an elevated level of artistry introduce a distinct rhythm within a narrative that hinges on action and legendary movement.

‍

Live Action Director Jenna Gang’s magic touch makes the food not only look mouthwateringly delectable but bursting with personality and energy. Gang brought the stylized animated skewers, grilled veggies and more into the real world with a decadent feast that cohesively exists alongside the world Clubcamping designed. When the spots return to live action, the legend of the dishes is still in the air.
