Amend, the Netflix documentary, explores the 14th Amendment, a cornerstone of civil rights and equality in America. Each episode focuses on a different theme and spotlights historical figures who shaped the movement, from Pauli Murray and Frederick Douglass to Martin Luther King Jr.

The project features around 11 minutes of animation, crafted in distinct visual styles for each episode. For Margherita, it was an eye-opening and deeply educational experience, as she hadn’t previously studied the history of the American Constitution.

Working within a tight production schedule, her team developed an animation style that balanced efficiency with artistry, preserving the richness and texture of hand-drawn illustrations. Some sequences were rotoscoped, others hand-animated at eight frames per second, achieving a slightly imperfect, organic aesthetic.
