An journey of metamorphosis through three stages—Eclipse, Death, and Birth

In the shadow of an eclipse, Death cradles a planetary world until a new creature emerges from the darkness, heralding the birth of a new cycle.

Jay & Jin crafted a single, intricate 3D model to represent all stages of life, death, and rebirth for experimental composer Laskfar Vortok's "Eclipse" music video

The concept began with Jay and Jin's fascination with sculpture and the challenge of creating one form that could represent all stages of life. The foundation of the final sculpture was the image of a cicada emerging from its molt. This idea pushed the directors to explore the contrast between life and death through form and texture—one element representing the weathered surface of an ancient cocoon, and another the delicate shell of a newly emerged insect.

Focusing on a single model for a lengthy video was a daunting goal, but experimenting with scale became the key that unlocked the conceptual puzzle. For instance, the spherical egg, the smallest part of the sculpture, was introduced with a close-up, framing it like a planet cradled by celestial beings. As the story unfolds, this "planet" gradually reveals itself to be held by a much larger creature, adding depth and mystery to the narrative.
